Please view the 4-Corners program, “Worse off after Surgery: Exposing Australia’s profitable pain industry”. As a follow-up, Australia’s estimated 3.7 million chronic back pain suffers justify 4-Corners having patients compare medical to chiropractic outcomes.
While studying for my Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer Chiropractic College, in Davenport Iowa I learnt the following: DJD, degenerative joint disease, begins with an excessive force creating spinal biomechanical disruption. Simply put, 1) excessive force can misalign a spinal motion unit, disrupt optimal spinal joint function and interfere with the function of the local spinal nerves. That is a vertebral subluxation. The body’s inborn intelligence creates pain, and warning symptoms to inform the individual what has happened.
The individual’s response could be to take measures to have a chiropractor assist the body to realign the misaligned joints while restoring the joint’s range of motion and stopping the nerve interference. A profitable medical response is to medically mask the body’s warning pain signals while ignoring the biomechanical disruption. Decades of medically suppressing the constructive warning pain signals permit the spine to gradually develop degenerative joint disease (DJD). Hence, the high frequency of seniors having the DJD symptoms of chronic spinal-related pain. Palmer Chiropractic College taught early intervention, the prompt correction of vertebral subluxations and ongoing spinal maintenance care.
Today’s obvious proliferation of chiropractic practises is a reflection of the high levels of satisfaction among generations of satisfied chiropractic patients who have told others to, “See my chiropractor”. My congratulations to the 4-Corners team. Sincerely, Michael McKibbin Doctor of Chiropractic (USA)
